Lauren Liebermann

Lauren Liebermann is a contemporary abstract artist working in both painting and photography. Her work explores the interplay between emotion, movement, and the tension between control and release.

 

Her large-scale paintings are created through a physical, intuitive process—layering acrylics, pastels, dye, and spray paint on canvases laid flat on the ground. Using her hands, feet, and found tools, Liebermann builds and deconstructs each surface until it arrives at a composition that feels both raw and resolved.

Her photographic work shares the same energy. Through long exposures and in-motion techniques, she captures light as gesture—producing images that echo the immediacy and presence of her paintings.

Liebermann is based in Montclair, NJ. Her work is held in private collections across the U.S. and internationally.
